Batcaverna, rifugio di un supereroe

Nella saga a fumetti di Batman – identità segreta del facoltoso playboy Bruce Wayne e ambiguo partner nel tenebroso “duo dinamico” del più giovane Robin –, la Batcaverna (The Batcave) rappresenta il quartier generale dell’uomo-pipistrello, formato da una serie di caverne collegate sotto villa Wayne (il Wayne Manor, nella periferia di Gotham City, affidato alla solerti cure del maggiordomo di casa Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth), donde il Cavaliere Oscuro (The Dark Knight, aka The Caped Crusader, The Darknight Detective e The World’s Greatest Detective) muove per le sue perlopiù notturne e spesso spicce attività di presidio senza intermediari della giustizia.
L’ascoso buen retiro del supereroe  della National Comics (oggi fusa nella DC Comics), divisione fumetti della National Publications, viene nominato per la prima volta da Bill Finger (ghost writer e co-creatore di Batman, solo tardivamente accreditato, assieme al ben più noto e riconosciuto Bob Kane) in “Batman”, 1942, agosto-settembre, #12: Batman aveva debuttato soltanto tre anni prima, nelle pagine di “Detective Comics”, 1939, maggio, #27, guadagnandosi già nel 1940 il comic book eponimo.
